Chief Justice Presses for Expedited Court Rule on Traffic Fines

On May 18, the Chief Justice asked the Judicial Council to take emergency action to adopt a rule of court to facilitate access to justice for court users challenging traffic fines. In her report to the Judicial Council on Apr 17, she stated on the issue, "I cautioned about a pay to play justice system in the past. It’s a very complicated issue. Many people are involved. It’s an access to justice issue as well as a fiscal issue."

Statement on Governor's May Budget Revision

“I am pleased to see that the Governor’s May Budget Revision adheres closely to his January proposal, which brought an incremental increase for trial court operations. This will be the third year of new investment by the Governor to help stabilize funding for the judicial branch. New investment and stabilized funding are the building blocks for court innovations and efficiencies.”
