Dan Siskind oversees activities of the Bay Area program on a daily basis, coordinates partners and member trainings, directs program staff, and oversees the collection of data for performance measurements that help depict the impact of the program on legal-self-help. Mr. Siskind has been running the Bay Area program since August 2006. In his tenure as director of the Bay Area program, he created and developed the JusticeCorps Fellowship position, and has successfully steered the program through its first multi-county incarnation. Mr. Siskind received his Bachelors from Bates College in Lewiston Maine and a Masters from the University of San Francisco in Teaching for Social Justice. Mr. Siskind served two terms as a Teach for America AmeriCorps member and has worked as an AmeriCorps Site Supervisor. As an Executive Branch fellow he served with the California Service Corps. Mr. Siskind’s favorite parts of the job are working with students, learning about the courts, and fostering program growth and development.
Monica Porter has been with the JusticeCorps program just over a year. Ms. Porter was a Bay Area Full-Time JusticeCorps Team Leader in 2009 and joined the Bay Area staff in September 2010. Ms. Porter has a Bachelors degree from University of California, Berkeley in Social Welfare with a Minor in Public Policy and Disability Studies. For her, the most important part of her job is providing the members with a good experience and doing the job to the best of their ability.
Tere Kong has been with the Alameda Superior Court for 12 years and joined the JusticeCorps program in 2006. Prior to JusticeCorps, she worked for the Family and Children's Bureau of the court for 8 years. Ms. Kong works closely with the program director and coordinator to organize member site assignments, plan and coordinating member training events, oversee the collection of member timesheets, and track members to be sure they are on-track to complete the program. Ms. Kong has a bachelor’s degree in Spanish from Cal State East Bay with a minor in human development. Her favorite part about the JusticeCorps program is seeing the members grow from the start of the program year to the end.
