Senator Evans was elected to the state Senate in 2010 after serving six years in the state Assembly. An attorney by training, she chairs the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and the Legislative Women’s Caucus as well as the Senate Select Committee on Wine. Senator Evans is also a member of the state Senate’s Committees on Agriculture, Budget, Governmental Organization, and Natural Resources & Water. She also serves as a Commissioner for the Commission on the Status of Women, where she advises the Governor and the Legislature on inequities in laws, practices, and conditions that affect women. Prior to her election to the Assembly, Senator Evans served two terms on the Santa Rosa City Council and three years on the Santa Rosa Planning Commission. Senator Evans practiced law for more than 20 years. In 2011, she received the Stanley Mosk Defender of Justice Award for her leadership in the administration of justice her consistent work to improve access to justice for all Californians. More>>
