Judicial Council Begins National Search for New Administrative Director
Seeks Executive Search Firm; Proposals Due by October 7

SAN FRANCISCO—The Judicial Council today issued a request for proposals from executive search firms to assist in the recruitment of a new Administrative Director for California’s judicial branch.  The Administrative Director is appointed by the Judicial Council, which is chaired by the Chief Justice of California, Tani Cantil-Sakauye. The director heads up the Administrative Office of the Courts, the staff arm of the Judicial Council, which is the constitutionally created entity that sets statewide policy and procedures for the courts, creates and advocates for the judicial system’s budget, and oversees more than 500 court facilities around the state.

The new Administrative Director will succeed William C. Vickrey, who retired on September 9 after 19 years of service. Mr. Ronald G. Overholt, Chief Deputy Administrative Director for 11 years, has been appointed as Interim Administrative Director. www.courts.ca.gov/14874.htm

The request for proposals and specifications for a national search is posted on the California Courts website at www.courts.ca.gov/rfps.htm. Proposals must be received by 1 p.m. on October 7.
