Commission Confirms Appointments to Court of Appeal, Sixth, First, and Fifth Appellate Districts

SAN FRANCISCO—Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye, Chair of the Commission on Judicial Appointments, announced that the commission today confirmed the following appointments by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. to the Court of Appeal, Sixth Appellate District (San Jose), First Appellate District (San Francisco), and Fifth Appellate District (Fresno).

  • Judge Adrienne M. Grover, Superior Court of Monterey County, as Associate Justice of the Court of Appeal, Sixth Appellate District (San Jose). She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Associate Justice Wendy Clark Duffy.
  • Mr. James M. Humes, Executive Secretary for legal affairs, administration, and policy at the Office of Governor Edmund G. Brown, as Associate Justice of the Court of Appeal, First Appellate District, Division Four (San Francisco). He fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Justice Patricia K. Sepulveda.
  • Judge Rosendo Peña, Jr., Superior Court of Fresno County, as Associate Justice of the Court of Appeal, Fifth Appellate District (Fresno). He will fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Associate Justice Betty L. Dawson.

The appointments were each approved by a unanimous vote at public hearings held in the Supreme Court Courtroom, Earl Warren Building, 350 McAllister Street, located in the Ronald M. George State Office Complex, San Francisco.
