Providers of Court Interpreter Education

Effective January 1, 2020 the Compliance Requirements for Certified Court and Registered Interpreters has been updated with changes and clarifications for both interpreters and education providers.

All education providers are strongly encouraged to read the requirements, with particular attention to the section: Requirements and Procedures for Education Providers.

Education as defined in the Compliance Requirements is an educational activity relevant to court-related interpreting that:

  • Offers development of existing skills;
  • Bridges identified knowledge gaps;
  • Addresses the Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Essential for Court Interpreting (KSAs) required for interpretation in the courts;
  • Enhances the interpreter participant's ability to perform interpreting work for the courts, or other justice partners and interpreting professions; and,
  • Is offered by a Judicial Council approved provider.
