  Juvenile Court Administrative Order

Overview/Program Description:

The Court has implemented Compliance Review and Wardship Status Review hearings for delinquency proceedings. Compliance Review hearings are set for cases involving conditional orders, while Wardship Status Review hearings are set for cases that do not involve conditional orders. Unless the case is already set for a future hearing, the Court schedules a non-appearance Compliance Review or Wardship Status Review hearing when a minor is declared a ward. When minors are in compliance, a Recommendation to Terminate Wardship is submitted to the Court. The recommendation is routed through counsel for review and sign off. When a judicial officer agrees with the recommendation, the supervision is terminated, the future review hearing is vacated, and the case is closed. When minors are not in compliance, a Probation Violation Petition is filed by Probation, and a probation violation arraignment is scheduled.

Program Benefits/Savings:

The Court, justice partners, and the public benefit from cases closing in a timely manner, as this represents appropriate supervision periods and results in fewer appearances in court. The justice partners with Orange County Superior Court include the District Attorney, Public Defender, and the Probation Department.
