Appointed to the Superior Court of Riverside County in 2005, Judge Harold W. Hopp hears felony criminal cases from arraignment to trial. He previously was assigned to hear limited and unlimited civil cases, including complex, CEQA, and probate cases. Judge Hopp was the court’s presiding judge for two years. In addition, Judge Hopp has served on many of the court’s internal committees, including its Executive Committee, Legislative Outreach Committee, and Budget Advisory Committee. He also chairs the court’s Project Advisory Group for the construction of a new family and juvenile courthouse in Indio.
 
Judge Hopp has been extensively involved in the statewide administration of the court system. He has served on many Judicial Council advisory groups, including its Trial Court Presiding Judges Advisory Committee, Civil and Small Claims Advisory Committee, Civil Jury Instructions Advisory Committee, and the Bench Bar Coalition, which he co-chaired for two years.

Before his appointment to the bench, Judge Hopp practiced law in Riverside County for 17 years, focusing on civil litigation.
