Notice of Training for Mandatory Electronic Filing
In anticipation of mandatory electronic filing (e-Filing) in the Court of Appeal for the Fifth Appellate District (5th DCA), the court will offer free training sessions to the legal community on December 4, 2014.
Starting in 2015, all attorneys submitting documents for filing in any appeal or original proceeding with the 5th DCA must file electronically through an electronic filing system, known as TrueFiling, developed in partnership with the vendor ImageSoft, Inc. See Local Rule 8. The e-Filing system will allow electronic transmission of documents to the court on a 24 hour basis.
e-Filing will be mandatory first in all civil appeals and original proceedings, with a planned commencement date of January 13, 2015. Approximately 30 days later, e-Filing will be mandatory for all criminal and juvenile appeals and original proceedings. Everyone is urged to periodically check the court’s website for updates. e-Filing through the TrueFiling system will be required for all attorneys, unless an exemption is granted. Self-represented parties are encouraged, but are not required to, register for electronic filing.
The December 4th training sessions will take place in the Fifth Appellate District’s courtroom located at 2424 Ventura St., Fresno, with alternative sessions available at either 11:00 AM or at 1:30 PM. Attendance of law office support staff is welcome and encouraged. Those who wish to attend either session should register by sending an email to: 5DCeFileTraining@jud.ca.gov and provide the following information within the email:

Registration for e-Filing will be available starting in January 2015. Please consult the court’s website for further updates on the start dates and the registration process.
The Court will use the services of Court Call for all telephonic appearances during oral argument, effective July 1, 2014
Effective July 1, 2014, any party appearing telephonically for oral argument shall use Court Call. Parties must make reservations on Court Call's website or by calling 1-866-582-6878 to schedule a telephonic appearance for oral argument.

The 5th District is located in Fresno. Its jurisdiction is over the following counties: Fresno, Kern, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, Stanislaus, Tulare and Tuolumne. The Court has 10 justices and is not divided into divisions. READ MORE >>
