Apply Now: Civic Learning Awards 
Applications are now available for the California Civic Learning Award! Co-sponsored by Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, the Civic Learning Award recognizes public schools for their efforts to engage students in civic learning and spotlights models for replication. This year, the award is for public elementary and middle schools. Applications are due Dec. 15.

Cantil-Sakauye and a committee of civic leaders organized the Civic Learning California Summit to examine successes and barriers to increasing civic literacy in California. The event was filled to capacity and featured special guest U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (Ret.).
