Public Hearing Set for August 31, 2011, in San Francisco

San Francisco — A public hearing has been scheduled by the Commission on Judicial Appointments on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at 3:00 p.m. in the California Supreme Court Courtroom, Fourth Floor, 350 McAllister Street, San Francisco, to consider the proposed appointment by Governor Edmund G. Brown, Jr. of Professor Goodwin Liu as Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court.

The appointment of Professor Liu, professor of law at University of California Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall), has been proposed to fill the vacancy created by the retirement of Associate Justice Carlos R. Moreno. Justice Moreno retired from the high court effective February 28, 2011.
