Grand Opening Ceremony for New Mammoth Lakes Courthouse September 23
Who: The ceremony, which is open to the public, will include remarks by Presiding Judge Stan Eller of the Superior Court of Mono County; Hon. Jo Bacon, Mayor of Mammoth Lakes, and Mr. Ronald G. Overholt, Interim Administrative Director of the Courts.
When: Friday, September 23, 2011, 12 noon–1:30 p.m.
What: The program will include remarks, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and tours of the new courthouse.
Where: The new courthouse is at 100 Thompsons Way, at the intersection of Highway 203 and Sierra Park Road in Mammoth Lakes (map).
Why: The grand opening celebrates completion of five years of planning, design, and construction for the new two-courtroom, 20,000-square-foot courthouse, which replaces the former leased space for the South County Branch in the Sierra Center mall. The new courthouse provides more space, two full courtrooms, a hearing room, and additional counters to serve the public, enabling the court to improve access and services. The courthouse occupies 1.8 acres in an area planned as a future government center in Mammoth Lakes. The project was completed under budget and on schedule. Construction began in April 2010 and was completed in August 2011.
The ceremony is open to the public. Members of the media wishing to attend the dedication or arrange for a tour may contact Hector Gonzalez, Court Executive Officer, Superior Court of Mono County, at 760-924-5444, extension 230.
