Judge Hardcastle was elected 81st President of the California Judges Association (CJA) by the group’s Executive Board. His one-year term began  Oct 14, 2012. Judge Hardcastle was appointed to the bench in 1997 and has served in every division of his court except for Family Law. He has been the supervising judge of both the Criminal and Civil divisions and Assistant Presiding Judge and Presiding Judge. He currently presides over a juvenile delinquency department and is the Presiding Judge of the Juvenile Division. Judge Hardcastle is an adjunct professor of law at the Empire College of the Law, teaching Evidence. Prior to his appointment to the bench he was a managing partner in the civil litigation firm Babin, Seeger and Hardcastle. Judge Hardcastle retired from the U.S. Army in 2002 as an LTC after 23 years of service, including work in the Judge Advocate General Corps. He is a graduate of the University of the Pacific (1977) and received his J.D. from the McGeorge School of Law (1979).
