Civic Learning Awards Announced!
Thirteen public schools in California are the recipients of this year's Civic Learning Award. The awards, co-sponsored by Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye and Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson, celebrate successful efforts to engage California public high school students in civic learning and spotlight replicable models for other schools.

Cantil-Sakauye and a committee of civic leaders organized the Civic Learning California Summit to examine successes and barriers to increasing civic literacy in California. The event was filled to capacity and featured special guest U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor (Ret.).
