Funding

Partnership Grants

Each year, 10 percent of the state Equal Access Funds allocation is distributed by the Legal Services Trust Fund Commission as Partnership Grants. This funding is available for joint projects of courts and qualified legal services agencies to enable the legal services agency to provide self-help services at or near the courthouse. Partnership grants are competitive. The legal services program must submit the application and the presiding judge must approve it. The list of qualified legal services organizations is found here.

There is a special grant cycle for 2022 with $3.88 million available for legal services programs to propose a new program or a substantial expansion to an existing self-help project operated in collaboration with the courts. Services may be provided remotely.  While Partnership Grants projects have historically been funded in a range from $20,000 to $100,000, given the funding’s intent to encourage unique and larger scope project development, these grants are for a minimum funding request of $75,000 and maximum request amount of $300,000.

The grant period is April 1, 2022 – December 31, 2023 (21 months).
