Budget/Funding

Judicial Council Action
At its August 26, 2011 meeting, the Judicial Council approved the recommendation presented by the Trial Court Budget Working Group for pro-rata allocation to the superior courts of the $17.689 million in operational funding and $1.149 million in court security–related funding contained in the Budget Act of 2011 (Stats. 2011, ch. 33) to address the trial courts’ increased workload as a result of the passage of the Criminal Justice Realignment Act of 2011.

The report includes allocation methodology, estimated caseload for each court, amount of funding to be allocated to each court, and a recommendation that courts be asked to track certain information such as the number of petitions filed to assist the council in its allocation decision in future budget years

Caseload and Funding Allocations
All courts that are estimated by California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to have had actions that would require action under the Realignment Act will receive some level of funding based on each court’s percentage of the statewide total estimated petitions for revocation.
