Fees & Filing

NOTICE OF FILING FEE INCREASES: Pursuant to Senate Bill No. 1021 (2011-2012 Reg. Sess.), the following filing fee increases are effective immediately:

Supreme Court: The fee for filing petitions for review in civil cases and writ petitions within the original civil jurisdiction of the Supreme Court is now $710. The corresponding fee for filing responsive documents is now $390.
Courts of Appeal: The fee for filing notices of appeal in civil cases and writ petitions within the original civil jurisdiction of a Court of Appeal is now $775. The corresponding fee for filing responsive documents is now $390.

Copy of audio recording of oral argument
The court accepts requests in writing for copies of the recorded argument, along with the required $40.00 fee (prior to preparation). The recorded argument can be e-mailed directly to you or burned to a CD (mailed to you or picked up in person).

Filings In Court of Appeal

First document filed in a civil case by a party other than appellant/petitioner  $390
Petitions for Writ of Mandate, Prohibition or Certiorari Gov. Code 68926 ) (there is no fee for filing a petition if the underlying matter is criminal or juvenile in nature) $775
Petitions for Writ of Review involving Agriculture Labor Relations Board (ALRB), Public Employees Relation Board (PERB), Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), or Public Utilities Commission (PUC) cases $775
Petitions: for writs resulting from contempt proceedings, for writs of habeas corpus, for writs of supersedeas (if related notice of appeal has been filed), Petition to transfer (Rule 8.1006), or for writs of review in Workers Compensation Appeals Board cases No Fee
