The Advisory Committee on Civil Jury Instructions has approved and posted for public comment its 29th release of proposed revisions and additions to the civil instructions (CACI). This release includes proposed new and revised instructions and verdict forms in response to developments in the law over the last six months, The committee is very interested in your input. Our preferred way of receiving your comments is in a Word file attached to an e-mail sent to civiljuryinstructions@jud.ca.gov.

The Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Code of Judicial Ethics proposes several amendments to canon 3E of the code.  Canon 3E addresses the disqualification of appellate justices and trial court judges and disclosure by trial court judges.  After receiving and reviewing comments on these proposals, the committee will make recommendations to the Supreme Court regarding the proposed amendments.  The full text of the proposed amendments is attached.

The Supreme Court Advisory Committee on the Code of Judicial Ethics proposes amendments to canon 5B(1)(b) of the code. The proposed amendments would clarify that a judge who makes false or misleading statements during an election campaign or the appointment process violates canon 5B(1)(b). After receiving and reviewing comments on this proposal, the committee will make recommendations to the Supreme Court regarding the proposed amendments.
