For Families and Children

The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), Center for Families, Children & the Courts (CFCC) is dedicated to improving the quality of justice and services to meet the diverse needs of children, youth, parents, families, and other users of the California courts.  To that end, the division supports programs in collaborative justice, domestic violence, language access, mentally ill court users, representation, services to self-represented litigants, tribal projects, veterans’ courts, and other programs that improve practice in family and juvenile, as well as other case types.

This section includes CFCC's programs related to Family Law and Juvenile Law. Other CFCC programs can be found in Collaborative Justice, Domestic Violence, Equal Access , and Tribal/State Programs.

What's New

May is National Foster Care Month
Information about Foster Care Month can be found at the National Foster Care Month website, or the Children's Bureau's National Foster Care Month website. The National Foster Care Month website includes a calendar featuring some of the events taking place in California and around the country. The site also features a toolkit including a section on how to work with the media in order to bring attention to important foster care issues.

Orientation to Family Court Mediation and Child Custody Recommending Counseling
This new video describes the mediation and child custody recommending counseling court process, provides helpful information about parenting plans, and offers tips on how parents can reduce conflict and help their children adjust to the changes happening in their family. Mediation and child custody recommending counseling is a process in which a neutral, specially trained professional will listen to the parents concerns and help them develop a parenting plan that meets the needs of their family in the event of a divorce or when two parents choose to live apart.
