The Court of Appeal, First Appellate District provides live webcasts of Oral Arguments. This page, in addition to calendar information provides access to upcoming webcasts.

Oral Argument Calendars

Electronic Devices for use at Oral Argument

Per Local Rule 17, counsel and self-represented litigants may use laptop computers and electronic tablets to aid them in taking notes and presenting oral argument, but they may not use them for any other purpose, including displaying demonstrative evidence. Electronic devices must be silenced at all times. No cellular telephones or other electronic devices are permitted in the courtroom, except for use as assisted-listening devices. No audio or video recording or photography is permitted in the courtroom, except in compliance with California Rule of Court, rule 1.150. Failure to comply with these restrictions may result in the violator being removed from the courtroom.

Oral Argument by Videoconference/BlueJeans

Pursuant to Misc. Order 2020-2, all in-person oral argument sessions in the Court of Appeal, First Appellate District, are suspended. Counsel who choose to present oral argument must do so via videoconference.

Oral arguments will be conducted on BlueJeans, the court’s designated platform for remote video appearances. Several days before oral argument is scheduled, parties and their counsel will receive emailed invitations and instructions from the court, with a link for joining oral argument. All fees for remote argument have been waived.
