Oral Argument by Videoconference Using the BlueJeans Events Application

Oral arguments will be conducted by videoconference on the BlueJeans Events application, the Court’s designated platform for remote video appearances.  Several days before oral argument is scheduled, participants will receive emailed invitations and instructions from the Court, with a link for joining oral argument.  All fees for remote argument have been waived.

Except as provided in rule 1.150, California Rules of Court, court proceedings may not be photographed, recorded, or broadcast, including those held by videoconference. The media must request an order from the court before any portion of the oral argument proceedings is recorded in any manner (Media Request to Photograph, Record, or Broadcast, form MC-500). The form must be filed with the court at least five court days before the proceeding, unless good cause is shown. A completed proposed Order on Media Request to Permit Coverage (form MC-510) must be filed with the request.

Public Access to Oral Argument by Videoconference

The Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, will conduct its oral argument calendar by video conference using the BlueJeans Events application (BlueJeans Events). The public is invited to join the proceedings by telephone or online through BlueJeans Events. Event links and dial-in codes will be different for each session; be sure to use the correct link and/or code for the session you want to join. Click here to view event information

Policy on Electronic Devices in the Courtroom:

Laptop computers and electronic tablets may be used in the court room but must be silenced and placed in “airplane mode” at all times. Such devices may be used by counsel or self-represented litigants only as an aid in presenting oral argument and cannot be used to display demonstrative evidence to the court or for any other purpose. Cellular telephones and other electronic devices are not permitted in the court room. No audio or video recording or photography is permitted in the court room except in compliance with California Rules of Court, Rule 1.150. Failure to comply with this policy will result in the violator being removed from the court room.
