Court of Appeal to Hold Education Program for High School Students

WHO:  The Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, Division Two, will host its “Appellate Court Experience” (ACE) educational outreach program for students from Pomona High School and Ulysses S. Grant High School. Launched in 2005, the program has helped educate thousands of high school students about the appellate courts.

WHEN:  Monday, April 29, 2013, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

WHERE:  Court of Appeal Courtroom, Ronald Reagan State Building, North Tower, Third Floor, 300 South Spring Street, Los Angeles

WHAT:  ACE is co-sponsored by the Court of Appeal, Second Appellate District, the Constitution Rights Foundation, the Los Angeles County Bar Association’s Appellate Courts Committee, and the California Academy of Appellate Lawyers.

HOW: The ACE program includes a classroom curriculum administered by appellate attorneys, followed by a visit to the Court of Appeal to observe oral arguments in a case previously studied in the classroom. After oral argument, the students are introduced to the appellate court process first-hand with an opportunity to interact with the justices and the attorneys.
