Civic Learning Description

All Poway High School seniors learn to discuss and debate current issues, engage in a mock trial, and participate in local political events. Most seniors also complete a senior project involving research, documentation, professional contacts, a portfolio and final presentation. Many projects also incorporate service to the community. The Planning and Leadership course for students in school government teaches leadership skills, group processes and parliamentary procedure so they may effectively lead their peers.
