Assembly Member Richard Bloom was elected in November 2012 to represent California's 50th Assembly District. He first entered public office in 1999 when he was elected to the Santa Monica City Council. Over the subsequent 13 years on City Council he served as Mayor three times and Mayor Pro Tempore twice. In 2009, Bloom was appointed to the California Coastal Commission whose mission is to protect, conserve, restore, and enhance environmental and human-based resources of the 1,100-mile California coast and ocean for environmentally sustainable and prudent use by current and future generations. Prior to entering public office, he worked for nearly 30 years practicing family law, and also worked in the non-profit world assisting low-income clients and the homeless. He served as a volunteer Judge Pro Tem and mediator for the Los Angeles Superior Court and on the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association Family Law Section. More>>
