Judge Marla O. Anderson was appointed by Governor Pete Wilson in 1995. In 2011, the Monterey County judiciary elected her to serve as assistant presiding judge, followed by two years as presiding judge. As leader of the Monterey court, she has instituted a strategic plan to improve judicial administration.

Judge Anderson has substantially contributed as a faculty/seminar leader for the B.E. Witkin Judicial College of California since 1997, and served as the Assistant Dean from 2011–2012 and Dean from 2013–2014. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Anderson served the County of Monterey as a prosecuting attorney for the District Attorney’s Office.
