Electronic Calendar Date Requests in Juvenile Justice - Santa Clara County Superior Court

Overview/Program Description:

The court's agency partners (Probation and District Attorney) e-mail their requests for continuances directly to court staff. This saves staff time in answering phone calls and also provides a way to verify that continuances were processed.

Program Benefits/Savings:

By having the requests in writing, the court was able to eliminate miscommunication and errors in the transfer of the information. There was also time savings for staff. The court eliminated the need to receive and return missed phone calls by having all information sent through e-mail. Requests were entered more timely and more accurately, which assisted staff in getting the calendar information to the judge in a timely manner.
