Dedication Ceremony: New Sutter County Courthouse

August 24, 2015

Architect's Rendering: New Sutter County Courthouse

What:  The public is invited to a ceremony to celebrate the official dedication of the new courthouse in Yuba City for the Superior Court of California, County of Sutter.

Who:  The ceremony will include remarks by Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye as well as Presiding Judge Brian R. Aronson and Court Executive Officer Mary Beth Todd of the Sutter Superior Court.

When:  Monday, August 24, 2015, 10:30 a.m. Please arrive approximately 30 minutes early to allow ample time for parking and seating.

Where: 1175 Civic Center Boulevard, Yuba City.

Why:  The event celebrates dedication of the long-anticipated New Sutter County Courthouse on a site long ago set aside by the County for this purpose. An important addition to Yuba City’s Civic Center, the new courthouse is adjacent to City Hall, the County Jail, and the Veterans Center. It replaces two overcrowded, aged, and deficient County-owned buildings, including the historic Sutter courthouse, built in 1901. Finishing touches are still being done on the new three-story building, which includes space for seven courtrooms in 73,853 square feet and will significantly improve public service and security, court operational efficiency, and access to justice for county residents. The event will preview the building’s award-winning design, by RossDrulisCusenbery Architecture, which features four landscaped courtyards, one in each corner. Funded through Senate Bill 1407, the courthouse was constructed by Swinerton Builders.

The new courthouse is scheduled to open for business in early October 2015. For more information on the date when the New Sutter County Courthouse will be open for business, visit the Sutter County Superior Court website at www.suttercourts.com.
