Mr. Charles Johnson has served as the clerk/executive officer of the Court of Appeal, First Appellate District since 2018. He has been a staff member of the Court of Appeal, First Appellate District for 22 years with expertise in supervision, project management, budgets, procurement, facilities, and security. He has a bachelor of arts degree in history from the University of Pennsylvania and received a graduate certificate in judicial administration in 2010 from Sacramento State University.

Mr. Johnson served as vice-president of the California Appellate Court Clerks Association from 2019 to 2020 and as president from 2021 to 2022. He currently serves on the Judicial Council’s Advisory Committee on Audits and Financial Accountability for the Judicial Branch and the Judicial Branch Workers’ Compensation Program Advisory Committee. Mr. Johnson also served on the council’s Proposition 66 Implementation Working Group and Branchwide Information Security Roadmap Workstream.
