Lassen County, Susanville Courthouse

The Susanville region is the fastest-growing area in Lassen County; Susanville is the county seat and the location of the only court facilities in the county. The Superior Court of Lassen County serves a rural population spread over an area the size of Connecticut. Its three former facilities—the Historic Courthouse, Court Annex, and Access to Justice Self-Help Center had significant operational, space, security, health and safety, and ADA problems.

The new courthouse, with three courtrooms and a hearing room, consolidated and replaced these facilities. The 42,300 square-foot, two-story building includes space for court clerks, holding areas, and building support space.

In 2008, the Judicial Council acquired a 4.5-acre site in Susanville, at 2610 Riverside Drive, near River Street and just south of the U.S. Forest Service office, for the new courthouse.
