The Supreme Court continues to follow guidance provided by federal, state, and local health authorities to limit the spread of COVID-19. In response to the coronavirus situation, the court has adopted expanded e-filing rules for litigants. Also, until further notice the court will continue to conduct oral argument from the San Francisco Supreme Court Headquarters building, with counsel appearing remotely and being provided time for uninterrupted argument.

Statement from California Supreme Court Clerk Jorge Navarrete (June 6, 2022)
Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye tested positive for COVID-19 and is exhibiting mild symptoms. The Chief Justice will be working in isolation in accordance with state and local health guidelines, but will not participate in remote oral argument on Tuesday.
California Supreme Court Extends Provisional Licensing Program (May 26, 2022)
The California Supreme Court on Thursday issued an order extending the Provisional Licensure Program through December 31, 2022. The court extended the program for both participant cohorts: 2020 law school graduates and those with qualifying prior Bar Exam scores.
Applications Sought for State Bar Board of Trustees, Committee of Bar Examiners (May 19, 2022)
The California Supreme Court’s State Bar Trustees Nominating Committee is seeking qualified applicants for the court’s two appointments to the State Bar of California Board of Trustees, open to active licensees of the State Bar who have their principal office in California. Deadline to apply is June 24. (Application form is here). The State Bar Board of Trustees is seeking qualified applicants for the court’s two appointments to the Committee of Bar Examiners, one California judicial officer and one attorney admitted to practice law in California within the last three years. Deadline to apply is July 1. (Application form is here).
Supreme Court Names New Director of Capital Central Staff (May 9, 2022)
The California Supreme Court named Tami Fisher as the new director of its Capital Central Staff. Fisher replaces Steven Rosenberg, who has retired after nine years as director. Current Capital Central Staff member, Elizabeth D’Orazio, will become the staff's assistant director.
