The Court of Appeal, Sixth Appellate District, continues to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 coronavirus situation. The Court follows guidance provided by the Judicial Council, The Department of Public Health, Cal/OSHA, and the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to limit the spread of the virus.
Because of the emergency due to the COVID-19 virus, and in cooperation with the orders of various Bay Area county departments of public health, the Court has been operating remotely with limited staffing. The Clerk's Office window is currently closed. However, Court operations are functional. The Court continues to receive phone calls, correspondence by email and U.S. Mail, and electronic filings. If you are unable to file your papers electronically, you may drop off paper filings, including emergency writs, in the drop box located on the 10th floor at 333 West Santa Clara Street, San Jose, California, next to the Sixth District Court of Appeal Clerk's Office entrance. If you need to review a document filed in this court, or for other in-person needs, please contact the Clerk's Office via phone at 408-277-1004 or email at Sixth.District@jud.ca.gov to make an appointment.

Pursuant to Misc. Order 21-001 oral argument sessions in the Sixth District Court of Appeal are being conducted via video conferencing.   Court proceedings will be open to the public and members online via live webcast or by viewing a video recording on the Court’s “Calendars” page.The link for the live webcast appears on the day of oral argument immediately at the beginning of each oral argument session.

Any further updates will be communicated through the court's website as appropriate.

Commencing September 9, 2021, the Court of Appeal, Sixth Appellate District, will conduct oral argument via video conferencing using the BlueJeans platform.  Counsel participating in oral argument will receive an invitation via email to the argument session for their case.  Members of the public can view oral argument online via live webcast or by viewing a video recording on the court’s “Calendars” page.
