Special Announcement

Posted Tuesday, March 17, 2020

The Court of Appeal, Sixth Appellate District, continues to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 coronavirus situation. The Court follows guidance provided by the Judicial Council, The Department of Public Health, Cal/OSHA, and the Federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to limit the spread of the virus.

The Court of Appeal, Sixth Appellate District, is adopting a hybrid oral argument model. The option to appear in person for oral argument will resume for parties as of November 2022. Only counsel and self-represented litigants presenting an oral argument in person will be permitted to enter the courtroom. In addition to in person appearances, the parties may elect to appear via videoconferencing (Misc. Order 22-001). Court proceedings will only be accessible to the public and press through online streaming. The link for the live webcast appears on the day of the oral argument immediately at the beginning of each oral argument session. Furthermore, public access to past recorded oral arguments will be available on the Court’s “Calendar” page.

The Clerk’s Office window is open from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM PST. Face coverings in the Clerk’s Office are required for all visitors regardless of vaccination status. Public members may also continue to use the drop box on the 10th floor at 333 West Santa Clara Street, San Jose, California, next to the Clerk’s Office entrance.

Any further updates will be communicated through the Court’s website, both in this place and in the “Latest News” below on this page, as appropriate.
